THE SUBJECT THAT SHOCKED ME
When I first joined the TESL course, the first thing I thought was that there may be some subjects that are hard but I didn't expected the subject 'Academic Reading' was hard.
On the first class, for me it was still pretty easy but the more and more time went on, the subject became harder and harder for me to process. It was like an electric shock for me.
Then came the mid semester exam. The marks I got was not really good especially for a TESL student. I got a 12 out of 20. This finally woke me up. Even if the the English language is something that I have gotten the hang of, there were still a lot more to learn especially the things that are taught in the TESL course. From skimming and scanning to finding the stated and implied main idea of a paragraph and essay, there were still alot more ahead of me.
And with that, I have learned the lesson behind the phrase,"Never judge a book by it's cover".
